The Mobile 赌博app, a program of the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival, honored creative mobile videos and Internet micro films yesterday at the Changfeng Eco-Business District.
The event, initiated in 2011, aims to discover young talented directors on the emerging new digital media channels. 25 short films from 15 countries and regions were chosen from 2,064 entries this year for the final competition.
The Best Short Film Award went to Iran\'s Dreams In Depths. Its director and scriptwriter Armin Isarian also received The Best Screenplay award.The 12-minute production vividly portrays how the crisis of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has influenced the lives of ordinary people.
Chinese director Zhang Siqing\'s The Home Gleaners garnered The Best Internet Micro Film Award for its concerns about society and human values from the perspective of a gleaner.
Dominik Hartl, director of the 26-minute Austrian film Vienna Waits For You received The Best Director Award. The film depicts a mysterious old apartment which lives off the youth of its tenants with a never-ending appetite.
According to the jury, Hartl displayed his talent and creativity in presenting a film with powerful and stunning visual effects. Actress Petra Staduan won The Best Actor/Actress award for her performance in Vienna Waits For You.
Best Story Film Award was presented to Greek film Stone Story which is about a man stuck in the cliffs who finally finds his way out.
Chinese production Breathe In Low took The Best Documentary Film Award. The heartwarming film documents the difficult lives of a group of dwarfs in a performing troupe.
German animated film The Hopper won The Best Animation Award while the Jury Grand Prix went to Chinese film Skin.
